DISCUSSION ON ASSIGNMENTS

Assignment Discussions: Comments That Will Never Get Lost in the Mix

In Freelo, discussions take place right below the task. Not in email, not in chat. You can reply directly to the part of the message that interests you, tag a colleague, and always have the conversation history at your fingertips.

DO YOU KNOW?

When communication shifts to emails and chats

01

”I don't know if the client sent a reply or if we're still waiting for it”

The question is asked in an email, the answer is given in a chat, and you can't find the decision. Discussions in Freelo keep the entire history tied to the task —who asked, who answered, and what was agreed upon.

02

”A colleague sent me a message, but I overlooked it and missed the deadline:”

A chat message can easily get lost among dozens of others. A mention in a discussion will appear right in the task it relates to, and you’ll receive a notification about it both in the app and via email.

03

”A new colleague doesn't know why the assignment looks the way it does”

The decision was made during a meeting he didn't attend or in a conversation he doesn't have access to. In Freelo, he can see the change history right next to the task, regardless of when it was added.

Kateřina, Freelo Customer Support

”The discussion is not a separate chat alongside the tasks; it is part of them. Whatever you write in the discussion for a task remains there permanently, even if the task is later moved to another project.”

Discussions on tasks in Freelo

FOR TEAMS THAT DON'T WANT TO LOSE CONTEXT

Discussion: Communication regarding the assignment, not in random threads

01

Team Leaders and Project Managers

Need to know where the team is stuck without calling a meeting? The Discussion section shows you the latest comments under each task. Just check the Dashboard or your notifications to see what’s being discussed and what the status is.

02

Distributed and Hybrid Teams

When colleagues are working from different cities or time zones, a reply may not come right away. It will remain in the comment section below the task until they read it, and unlike in a chat, there’s no risk of them forgetting to come back to it.

03

Anyone who needs an answer

An unclear assignment can bring work to a complete halt, just like missing materials from a colleague. Post your question directly in the task, and as soon as you get a response, pick up right where you left off. Others don’t have to figure out what was agreed upon.

Notify a colleague without having to assign them to the task

Type @ and select the name of the colleague you want to notify about the comment. That person will receive a notification, even if they aren’t currently assigned to the task. Use @project to notify the entire project with a single mention. On higher-tier plans, you can also mention the entire team, such as @marketing. A mention is a one-time action: it doesn’t automatically add anyone as a follower; it simply sends a notification to the person the question actually concerns.

ANSWERS

Please select the statement that applies to you

Select a portion of a comment, and Freelo will immediately display a "Reply" button. The selected text will be inserted into your new comment as a quote with the author's name, so you can respond to multiple questions one by one without any confusion. When you hover your mouse over a reply, a preview of the original text appears, so you won’t lose your place even in a longer discussion.

CONTENTS OF THE COMMENTARY

A comment can convey more than plain text

You can enhance your text with color, highlighting, quotes, or numbered lists. You can record your screen and voice directly from your browser, attach a video or audio file (MP4, MOV, WAV, and others), and your colleague can play it right in Freelo without downloading it to their computer.
